Glide Wins LSCU's Inaugural Shark Tank Competition

At the League of Southeastern Credit Unions' inaugural VISION Conference in August 2024, four fintech companies pitched their solutions to a room of credit union executives and let them vote. Glide won.

That format matters. No judges' panel. No committee scoring rubric. The people credit unions exist to serve — their own executives and peers — decided which solution they'd actually want. That's a harder test than most vendor evaluations, and a more honest one.

The Problem Glide Is Solving

The average credit union runs 30+ disconnected systems built on decades-old infrastructure. Opening a new account takes 20 minutes. Member onboarding conversion is a fraction of what digital-first competitors achieve. Meanwhile, neobanks have spent the last decade resetting consumer expectations around speed and simplicity.

Glide replaces that fragmented stack with a unified digital experience platform built specifically for community financial institutions. The flagship product, Deposit Origination, reduces account opening from 20 minutes to under 3 and delivers 3x improvement in onboarding conversion — without requiring institutions to rip and replace their core systems.

The pitch at VISION was straightforward: community financial institutions deserve fintech-grade experiences, and now there's infrastructure built to deliver them.

What the Win Signals

Glide competed against CU NextGen, Illuma, and VisiFI. Credit union executives in attendance asked hard questions — on implementation timelines, core integrations, and what "modern" actually means when you're managing decades of legacy infrastructure. These aren't audiences easily impressed by demos.

LSCU President Samantha Beeler called Glide's solution "groundbreaking." More telling was the response on the floor: institutions weren't asking whether the problem was real. They were asking how fast they could move.

The VISION win wasn't a marketing moment. It was market validation — from the community Glide was built to serve.

Traction Since the Win

Winning the competition tripled Glide's business. The conversations that followed turned into multi-year contracts. Glide now works with dozens of credit unions, serving over 1 million end users across the platform.

The roadmap has expanded beyond deposit origination into lending and AI-powered staff tooling — building toward a complete operating layer for community financial institutions.

The Broader Opportunity

There's a persistent assumption in fintech that community financial institutions are slow to adopt. The executives at VISION didn't match that picture. They were asking sharp questions about AI, fraud detection, and digital member acquisition. They're not waiting to be disrupted — they're looking for the right partners to move fast with.

The credit union model is structurally differentiated: member-owned, community-rooted, trusted. The gap has never been the mission. It's been the technology. That's what Glide is closing.
